“I can travel the world for its most famous attractions but without you they are mere places that in time I will forget.”
” Dear Lolo, my wish for your Birthday is that you will have the best in life. Thank you for being there for me when I’m sad or down. “
- A 10-year old Birthday letter by my nephew to his grandpa
” To the best dad in the world, everything I am today is because of you. You taught me the value of life and being the best person I can be. Everyday I am away from you, it’s every minute you’re in my mind. I’m so blessed to have you in my life. Love you and missing you, Happy Father’s Day.”
” I will always be your little girl.”
- A daughter’s letter to her father. She got married early last year and now lives in another country with her husband. Just like me 12 years ago, she had to leave home to follow her heart and all the dreams it wish to make.
” Love and family go beyond time. Celebrations we had when we were 7-year old comes alive no matter how old we get simply by remembering the great times we spent with the people closest to our heart.”

Looking at my nieces celebrating their sister’s 7th Birthday was like looking at a mirror of my past. They reminded me so much of me and my siblings of the many birthdays and events we celebrated together. Life was blissfully simple then. Kind of miss that.
For as long as we can remember we sat close with the people most dear to us, side by side, always there for each other no matter how contrast or different our views and perspective in life may be. Then one day, we wake up and realize they are no longer physically near us and miss them so much beyond comparison. It gives us comfort when we remember and recall the happy times we spent with them. Happy times that somehow make us feel that we are still part of that home we knew so well.

Looking like peas in a pod yet totally generations apart in terms of ideas, visions and perceptions in life, my mom and my sister are blessed to be near to each other. Among the 6 of us siblings, she got to live close to my parents and create a bond like no other. Sometimes, I wish fate rerouted my dreams when I was younger and made me choose differently. Those “what if’s” questions are just hard to resist.
This week’s Photo Challenge is Juxtaposition defined as a state of being close together or side by side. Thanks to Facebook, I found a way to bridge the gap and bring nearness close to my doorstep. Ain’t social media amazing?
If you can turn back time, who do wish to sit close to and spend another moment with?
